How To Use Nero to Make a Mixed-Mode CD

Nero is a kind of software that you can use to burn songs and movies on a CD and other multimedia tasks that you do on a computer. If you want to have Nero in your computer, you have to buy licensed software to install into your system. One other task that you can do with Nero is to make a mixed-mode CD. You may wonder, what is a mixed-mode CD? And how does it work? A mixed-mode CD is any rewritable or recordable compact disk where you can store both music and audio files together with different applications for your computer. Making this kind of CD saves you storage as you can use one CD for two purposes. This CD does not only play in your computer’s CD ROM but in your car stereo and CD player as well. If you have audio and data files waiting to be backed up in a compact disk, using Nero is the best way to go. This article will show you how to use Nero for this task. Read on.

* Install Nero in your computer. If you do not have Nero yet, you cannot burn the files into the CD. Purchase licensed Nero software and start the installation process.
* Insert the disc in the CD/DVD ROM. If you still need to format the disc, do so before you begin. But most CDs are already formatted so that would not be a problem.
* Open Nero. Right click the Nero icon on your desktop. The home page of Nero will appear and you are ready to make your mixed-mode CD. Prior to this, make sure that you have a rewritable or recordable bland CD to use in burning the files. The Nero StartSmart window will appear.
* Select the files to be burned to the CD. On the home page click the Make Mixed Mode CD tab. A new window will appear. Click the Audio button so you can start selecting the audio files. Search for the location of the audio files in your computer and select the tracks to be burned. Highlight them and drag them to the Audio section. Do the same with the data files. Browse the location and highlight the files to be burned and drag them to the Data section.
* Burn. Once you have selected all the files, click the Burn button and select the write speed. Nero will now start burning the files into the CD. Once the burning process is complete, a pop-up window will appear, saying that the burning process is completed successfully. Click OK. Take out the disc and you are ready to play the audio files.

Some players still try to play data files which you will know when there is a loud screeching noise that comes out of the CD player. But the newest models of CD players already recognize data files and no longer play them. When burning files into a CD or any storage medium for that matter, it is important to know of the limitations of burning files. For example, you cannot burn files when it is clearly stated that burning such file is considered plagiarism or committing copyright infringement.
