Ethernet to Serial Conversion

Using devices based on serial communications standards on an Ethernet-based network requires an Ethernet-to-serial conversion box. Ethernet converters allow remote administration of hardware using RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 type serial ports through servers specifically designed to handle serial data over an Ethernet connection.

Single Converter Box

Ethernet converters are used to transfer data from a serial device to a computer using an RJ-45 Ethernet cable. This type of converter allows administrators to remotely control serial-based devices without upgrading to a model with built-in networking capabilities.
Multi-Port Converter
Multi-port converters provide network routing for serial devices that require access to multiple network devices. This type of converter is typically designed to support a number of networking protocols. IP, TCP, UDP, PPPoE, DHCP and ICMP are among the protocols commonly supported by this type of device.
Terminal Server
Terminal servers that transfer data from serial devices work in conjunction with serial-to-Ethernet converters to provide network routing for serial devices. These devices are capable of providing network routing for up to 48 serial-over-Ethernet connections.
