How To Transfer a Domain Name to eNom

If you want to put up a website in the Internet, you would need to avail of the services of a web hosting company. Companies like eNom exist to provide large capacity websites that can provide domain names as well. eNom was founded in 1997 operating as a wholesaling business that allows reselling to subordinates. In 2007, eNom was named as the second largest domain name registrar with over 9 million subscribers. That authenticates the credibility of the company to handle your own website. Another good feature of the eNom domain is their non-tolerance to spam. Spam mails swarm the Internet by the millions and by the second everyday. You would want a website that is free from spam and would protect your visitors. Now that you have some knowledge about how eNom works and if satisfied, which you probably are, you could now transfer your domain name to eNom. Here’s how to do it, read on.

* Register or login to your account in eNom. You can’t transfer a domain name without being a subscriber to eNom. If you don’t have an account yet, go to enom.com and register to become a member or subscriber. Be sure to supply the right information about you. Don’t worry about privacy. eNom has a strict policy in privacy settings. If you already have an eNom account, go to their website and login with your username and password. Remember not to disclose you password to anyone but yourself.
* Don’t forget your EPP key and domain name. Your old domain name should be at more than 2 months or 60 days. You couldn’t transfer it to an eNom domain site. Your EPP key is your authorization code that secures your website from any unauthorized transfers.
* Transfer your domain name. Go to “domains” to transfer your domain name. In your eNom account, click on domains and then click on “transfer a domain name.” Once you have clicked on transfer, you would be asked your method of transfer. There are only two options – via email (auto verification) or via fax. Choose the method that has the easiest access for you.

Type your old domain name that you want to transfer to eNom. Once you start transferring, a series of parameters should be set to successfully transfer a domain name. Here are the parameters that are recommended to be checked:
o Registrar lock – This secures your website.

*
o Auto-renew – This means renewing your domain name after it expires.
o Apply Whols Info – This transfers automatically your Whols information.

After checking the three options, go to the “next” icon and type in your EPP key when the authorization key box appears. After inputting the EPP key, click twice on “submit” to transfer your request.

* Check your fax for authorization and receipt. This option is only if you chose fax as the method of transfer. Produce the authorization form by clicking the “view and print the fax sheet.” Print the authorization form. Fill in the necessary information and fax the FOA back with a Xerox copy of your valid ID. You should be able to fax or email the FOA within 30 days.
* Check if your domain name is accepted. Your status in your eNom account should read “ok” if your transfer was a success and the EPP matches registry records. These are instances that your transfer could be rejected: Fraud, court order of competent jurisdiction, and reasonable dispute over the name.

Be sure you are transferring an original name to avoid failing transfer. Once you have transferred your name to eNom, you can start managing your website. Good luck!
