How To Advertise on Bing

Unless you have been stranded on an island with no link to the outside world, you have probably heard of Microsoft’s entrance in the competitive world of search engines. Yes, Bing is Microsoft’s new puppy molded to combat Google in all its glory. The search engine is supposed to be as sufficient as Google and boasts of other features that its competitors don’t have. Nevertheless, Bing, like Google and the much older Yahoo, will make the bulk of its projected revenues from advertising. This is why most businesses engaging in online marketing and search engine optimization techniques are beginning to study Bing and how to increase its ranking on it. To help you start marketing your website on Bing, here are some tips to get you started.

* Understand the process. Before setting up a whole advertising campaign on Bing, you must first understand the whole advertising process. Basically the whole thing works with the same functions and features as Google Ads. Basically, you sign up for an advertising campaign on Bing and choose a website to promote based on keywords. Each keyword will have a corresponding value when clicked and redirected to your website. So, like Google, you will be paying on a per click basis on the keywords you select for the campaign. Now, the campaign will benefit you by placing your website to rank in the top 10 when each search uses these keywords. Basically, if you know how Google Ads work, then you will understand how Bing can benefit your business in terms of advertising.
* Visit Bing. To advertise on Bing, you will first need to visit their website and familiarize yourself with the features of its search engine. The actual site has no frills and is quite similar to Google with not a lot of images and clutter. The funny thing here is that the site, unlike Google, does not openly promote their advertising service which is kind of weird since a major part of their revenue will fall on advertising. An even funnier thing about the whole idea is that a few people, wanting to advertise on Bing, tried to find the advertising campaign page by executing a search on Bing itself and it found squat. Now they did the same search on Google and found that in order to advertise on Bing, you needed to log in to Microsoft’s advertising portal; Adcenter.

* Log on to Microsoft’s Adcenter. Visit adcenter.microsoft.com. This is the official site that will allow businesses and entrepreneurs to advertise on Bing. On this page, you can sign up for an Adcenter account. This will enable you to advertise on Bing. To activate your campaigns, you will need a credit card and will require you to pay a 5 dollar set up charge. Follow the instructions on the sign up until you are able to create the account. Start a new advertising campaign and configure it the way you like. You can set a daily budget just like Google so that you can monitor and manage your advertising budget.

Bing is the new kid on the block and is supposed to be poised to surpass Google and Yahoo in the future. The only problem is that they still can’t seem to figure out why Google became great. If you plan to advertise on Bing then go ahead however, until they are able to fix all the kinks in their system and become a powerhouse at the same level where Google is right now, it might be worth your while to stick to the more dependable option which is still Google.
