How To Use Twitter to Promote Things

Promoting something like your business can be successfully done online. Aside from the advertisement sites where you can post your ads, blogs can also be used for promotion. Twitter is one of the most popular blogging sites today. Since its launch in 2006, it became an instant hit and millions of people are now using it to give updates to their friends and family, share information, communicate as well as advertise their business. You can have unlimited posts each day, though each post can only have a maximum of 140 characters. These posts are called “tweets.” Your tweets will be displayed on your profile so other people can read these. Tweets are publicly viewed by default. This means that anyone who accesses your account will be able to read your tweets. You can change your settings so that only your subscribers or people whom you know will only be able to view your tweets. If you’re promoting something, it’s best to keep your tweets public as you want these to be seen by everyone.

Here are the steps on how to use twitter to promote things.

* Create your twitter profile. Before you can tweet or post anything on your profile, create a twitter account first. Make sure to choose a username that has something to do with your business. This will give people an idea on what you’re promoting. This will make it easier for people with the same interest as you to find your profile and subscribe to your account. Once done, type what you want others to see on your profile. Upload a picture as well because people will surely want to see you. This is a way of letting them know you. Select a background that represents your business. Search for people with the same interest as you and subscribe to their profile. If people subscribe to you, take time to thank them so they will feel that you appreciate them following your tweets.

* Promote things on your tweets. Give information regarding the things that you like to promote on your posts. Since you can only use 140 characters per post, make sure to keep it short yet complete. You can also add more posts if needed. However, see to it that you limit your posts as well to avoid flooding your own profile. Try to set a limit of posts for each day like 3 posts a day to make sure that people will be able to read your updates. If there is a website that you like to promote, include the link on your tweets. Provide all necessary information on your posts regarding the things you like to promote.
* Interact with your subscribers. Even if the main goal for using twitter is to promote things, post helpful and interesting information on your profile as well. This will keep your subscribers reading your profile. If there are posts from other subscribers that you find worth sharing, repost or re-tweet these and they will do the same for you. People will not like it if all they can read on your profile is promotion. Ask your subscribers about their interests and take time to answer their inquiries as well. This is a way to interact and build trust.

Twitter is not only an easy and fun way to keep in touch with other people. It’s also a great way to promote your business online.
