How To Use PC Guard to Protect Software Licenses

One of the best advantages of the digital world is that copying of things can be as easy as clicking and typing. Mass production is way too slow compared to how fast an entire digital book can be copied in millions. However, this is not good news for businesses that need to protect the licenses of their software products. Good thing, you can do something to protect the licenses of your software products. One of the easiest is using software like PC Guard. With this, you don’t have to undergo the hassles of studying difficult algorithms just to protect software licenses. All you have to do is follow the steps below:

* Understand your options. PC Guard is available in various versions depending on the programming language that was used to make the software. There are two general types of these, the PC Guard for .NET and PC Guard for Win32. The one for .NET supports other programming languages like J#, C#, and VB.NET. Meanwhile, the one for Win32 can work well with Delphi, VB, and C++. Also determine the system requirements and other specifications to successfully install and use the PC Guard version.
* Use a demo version. Any PC Guard version has its own demo version. Use that to test whether it will work well for your system and your software. Download the PC Guard trial version and use it just the same as using the full-featured product. However, do not expect this to be as good as the full-featured. There are limitations on the trial versions, especially the extra features.
* Use PC Guard only in one computer. Use the software’s machine-locking capability. This allows you to remotely control the software through a special activation code.
* Launch the PC Guard. Look for its tab labeled as “Protection Options.” You may give a name, filename, signature, general licensing option, demo mode, IP filtering, password protection, encryption, and user information. All these can help protect the software’s license.
* Control the demo version. Choose your preferred length of the demo version, say 15 days or 30 days. However, do this only if you will offer a demo version for your software products.
* Set the Protection Methods. Look for this tab and from there, you can choose whether you want remote protection, plain protection, network protection, or use code. You may also see more options from the mentioned selection by clicking on one of them and selecting the “Options” button. You may individually customize the options through this special button.
* Set the message. You may select up to 15 messages that will be displayed to the user for cases that relate software licenses. The “Language Editor” tab will help you set the messages.
* Protect the software. Explore more options on how to protect the software better through clicking on more tabs. Once done, go to “Files” and then hit “Save” or “Save As.” Alternatively, you may go to “File” and hit the “Protect File” or “Protect.”

If you are happy with the program, decide on buying the complete version of PC Guard. You might need to purchase the technical support, too, which will be worth the money especially if you are unfamiliar with protecting software licenses.
