How To Share a YouTube Video

YouTube is perhaps the most popular video-sharing website on the Internet. Registered users can upload an unlimited amount of videos while unregistered users can only search for any topic and view the associated videos. One thing both types of users can do is share a YouTube video by sending the link to a particular video's YouTube page.

1. Send the video's URL. One way to share a YouTube video is to send your friends the video's URL (Uniform Resource Locator). This is the web address that appears on your browser's address bar when the video is currently displayed on the main screen. The URL can also be seen when you click on the Share button located underneath the video. A small boxed-off section will expand and the first input field contains the URL. With the video you want to share currently displayed on one tab, open a new tab on your browser and access your email account. Copy the URL either from the browser's address bar when you shift to the YouTube tab or from the expanded Share section on the YouTube page containing the video. Paste that URL on your email message and send it. That URL will appear as a link which your recipient can click on and it will lead directly to the YouTube page of the video. You can also copy and paste the video's URL on IM chat messages.
2. Send the link from your YouTube account. You can also send the video's URL from your YouTube account. Signing up for YouTube is easy. Click on the Create Account link found on the upper right corner of any YouTube page. On the account creation page just fill up the required information and follow the steps to complete the signing up process. Afterwards sign in to your YouTube account and then click on the Share button. Look for an input box labeled ‘Send this video from YouTube'. Type in the email address of the recipient then click on Send. You can add a personal message with this sending. Take note that if you have a Google account you can also use the same username and password to sign in to YouTube.

3. Share the video in an online social network. When you click on the Share button underneath the video, besides the URL, you'll also see several links to various online social networks. Click on one where you belong to and a pop-up window will appear. On this window you will be asked to first sign-in to your account on that online social network. After that there will be instructions on how to share the video's URL as a link. The video can be placed on your homepage so your friends can see it when they view your profile or you can send the link to your friends as a message.

Sharing YouTube videos is one way to disseminate information and entertainment on the web.
