How To Promote Your Blog with Participation

With so much buzz on social media and how it can help you develop and drive traffic to your blog or website, most of the newer bloggers out there forget one of the most important aspects of blogging, the interaction with your loyal readers. Some bloggers upload content, share on social media sites, and wait for the traffic to come. Well, if traffic is your concern, you should know that before social media and viral marketing, blog marketing entailed interaction with other bloggers to form a community that will drive readers from one blog to another. Today, this is still a very effective strategy to promote any blog. Here are some details on this strategy. Remember, it all boils down to participation.

* Commenting. You may have noticed that once you get a wider reader base or audience, comments will start pouring in from out of nowhere. Some comments will have genuine relevance to the content you posted while others are outright mockeries. You may also have noticed that some comments posted include links to external sites. Well, you should know that some of these comments are made by other bloggers. They commented on your article in order to drive some traffic from your blog to theirs. Technically, this is legal and very ethical. It is a form of free advertising. Hence, you can consider doing the same.
* Simply find blogs that have some relevancy to your particular blog theme or topic. Read the articles posted on these blogs. If there are articles that seem to be relevant to your blog content, then make a comment. A genuine comment will induce replies from the author and other readers turning the blog into a discussion board, which is of course one way to ensure regular visits from readers. In any case, if you do decide to start commenting on these blogs, make sure that you insert a link back to your blog, particularly to relevant articles that you posted on it. This way, some of the people participating in the discussion and some silent readers may find their way to your blog. Thus, you get free blog promotion.
* Contact the blogger. Another way to get more buzz on your blog is by actually contacting the owners of the blogs you find interesting and relevant to yours. Chat them up via email and consider proposing some of these cross-promotion options:
# Link exchanging. Basically, you will propose mutual advertising where in you promote his blog on your website via a banner or link on your blog roll and he does the same. Most bloggers will be open to this proposal however; some seasoned bloggers may only agree to it if you have a good amount of regular traffic already.
# Guest writing. This is another option you can probably offer for additional exposure. If the blogger is high profile or has a very successful blog, you may want to offer him to write content for your blog as a guest writer. This way, you can drive some of his readers to his blog. Now, nothing comes for free. So, if you offer this idea, make sure that you can provide him something of value in return. Now, you can also go the other way which is to ask him if he would write about your blog on his blog. This is another winning option that will surely get your blog massive exposure, especially if the blogger has a huge audience.

Promoting your blog through participation is great since it allows you to interact with the blogging community. You may be surprised how many established bloggers out there are willing to help a fellow blogger get known.
