How To Create a Business Website

Whether your business is located in New York, Canberra, London or Hanoi the best way to drive your business is to create and develop a business website that would deliver results. Gone are the days you advertised your wares in real time with a brick-and-mortar set-up. It’s a ‘wired’ world now and the Internet is the best platform to grow and expand your business beyond concrete limits.

Building a website is not rocket science or even complicated math; you can create your own business website without having to obscene amounts of money for a clean and professional look. No one can put forward or write about your business the way you will and you are the best person to do so.

Before you get to making your website, research the market you are planning to establish yourself in. Identify what would be the likely keywords for visitors to search for the products or services you deal in. Using the right keywords and/or phrases means driving additional traffic to your website, since your website will score a high page rank on most search engines.

Give your website a personal touch. Mention things people can relate to; ultimately, people do business with people whom they like and trust and the Web per se is a very impersonal domain. Write about yourself, or information you would like to share with others. Write about what made you get into this business, your passions and dreams, where you would like to see your business a year down the line, or five years down the line and so on.
Keep and maintain the same theme or flow throughout your website. It could be the colors, the ideas, and the language. Your website should not look like snatches from different places. Target a niche market for your site. There are thousands of websites out there, make sure your website is different so that it stands out. Fire up your imagination and creativity and come up with a central theme that is unique; which will make your web presence felt. Choose a niche that you are really comfortable with and can write about.

Make as many changes in your website as you want. Innovate, experiment, see what works out and increases the traffic on your site. Upload a regular newsletter at regular intervals. Do not let your website get stale. Dole out authentic and valuable information on your site all the time. It’s a very dynamic and progressing medium.

Understand that you host your site on a professional server. It is great to have your name as your website name but will that appeal to the clients? Will that increase your footfall? If you are Maradona, yes but otherwise refrain from doing so. Use a dot.com name. It sounds more professional and in 2 or 3 syllables describes your business too. Choose a name that is easy to understand, easy to spell and easy to inform over phone. Using a dot.com name may cost you a bit vis-a-vis hosting your website on a freeware platform. Also, freeware comes with its own advertising pop ups, which may irritate your visitors.

Understand how the website building and maintenance process works in order to derive the maximum benefits. A great business website is all about your passion and willingness to learn, consistency, hard work and flexibility.
