How To Advertise on MySpace

MySpace is one of the more popular social media sites. It was the second social media site to grace the Internet. The first was Friendster however, MySpace grew exponentially compare to their predecessor. With the advent of Facebook and Twitter, MySpace is not as strong as it used to in terms of membership. Nevertheless, it still maintains millions and millions of users making it a viable choice for online marketing and advertising. Here are some tips on how to successfully advertise your business, product, or service on MySpace.

* Visit MySpace and observe the advertisement placements on the site. Log on to myspace.com and start studying how you can leverage the platform for your marketing campaign. If you will notice, most of the advertising is done with banners seen at the sides and lower parts of the page very different from the advertising scheme found on Facebook. However, they employ a pay per click or pay per impression advertising system as well. In any case, if you want to explore the whole platform, you will have to open a free account. Sign up and follow the instructions until you are able to sign in. After scrutinizing the site, if you still like the idea of getting exposure on MySpace, proceed by clicking on the “Advertise” link at the bottom part of the page.
* Request for advertising. Once you click the “advertise” link, you will be redirected to the official MySpace advertising page, Myads. Myads boasts of around 160 million members on MySpace that you can tap through its advertising service. Click the “Get Started” button to start creating your ad campaign. Follow the instructions and input the necessary information needed to complete the process. This will include configuring your add campaign, inputting your website, and uploading your banner ad. You will need a credit card to complete the process and execute your ad campaign. You may request for a customer service rep to contact you if you prefer to do it this way.

* Consider actively being an active member. If the high cost of advertising directly on MySpace is out of your price range, then you can do the next best thing to utilize this social media site to market and promote your business, join as a member and create a profile. Sign up for a free account and optimize your profile by uploading photos and videos relevant to the business, product, or service you want to promote. You will need to enter some text content as well. Finally, once your profile is optimized, get as many friends linked to you as you can. This will be your network. Be as active as you can be by uploading a lot of content and media, interacting with as many people as you can, send out as many messages and bulletins as you can, and do whatever else you deem necessary to bring your message to the MySpace public.

Consider hiring a person to manage your MySpace and other social media site marketing and ad campaigns so that you can focus on your core competencies. Once you have a competent online marketing person doing the legwork for you, you should gradually increase more traffic and leads to your website which will translate to more customers for your business.
